Atrocities on Hindus

Documenting the Forgotten Genocide and Ongoing Persecution

Bloodstained History: 1400 Years of Hindu Persecution

Hindus have suffered persistent, systematic atrocities across centuries, which have intensified in modern times throughout South Asia and diaspora communities. These brutal acts—motivated by religious hatred, political agendas, and extremist ideologies—include targeted killings, rape, abductions, forced religious conversions, destruction of temples and property, and mass displacement. The oppression occurs across multiple fronts:

Islamic nations such as Pakistan and Bangladesh

Where Hindus have faced repeated massacres, ethnic cleansing, and steady population decline due to violence and forced conversions. For example, since 1947, the Hindu population in Pakistan dropped from 23% to around 1.6%, while in Bangladesh during 1971-2023, approximately 2.8 million Hindus were killed and over 20 million displaced as refugees.

Indian states influenced by

Communist and jihadi elements like West Bengal, Kerala, Bihar, Jharkhand and Kashmir, witness ongoing violent attacks, conversion rackets, and intimidation.

Diaspora and Western countries

Where Hindu communities and religious sites also face hostility.

  • Post-1947 Hindu Genocide:

    • Bangladesh (1971-2023): ~2.8 million Hindus killed; 20+ million displaced.

    • Pakistan (1947-2023): Hindu population dropped from 23% to 1.6%.
    • The Goa Inquisition (1560-1812), a brutal chapter in colonial history, where thousands of Hindus faced torture, forced conversions, executions, and cultural suppression under Portuguese colonial rule. The Inquisition targeted Hindu religious practices, banned Sanskrit and local languages in religious contexts, and destroyed temples, severely impacting Goa’s indigenous Hindu culture.

    • Kashmir (1990-2023): Over 400,000 Kashmiri Pandits were ethnically cleansed during insurgency.

  • Modern-Day Atrocities (2020-2023):

    • Average daily: 3 Hindu temples vandalized; 2 Hindus killed.

    • In 2023 Bangladesh riots, 152 temples were destroyed in just 72 hours.

    • In Kerala, over 1,200 Hindu girls disappear annually, linked to forced conversions and trafficking.

    • Uttar Pradesh witnessed over 10,000 Hindu girls converted forcibly using fake IDs and sextortion, in recent cases reported near Nepal border, Agra, and Bijnor.

Judicial forums—including the Madras High Court, Supreme Court of India, Allahabad High Court, Mumbai High Court, and Bengal High Court—have mostly upheld state control, often out of deference to government claims of administrative necessity. Yet, courts have also expressed concerns about corruption, mismanagement, and disrespect to religious sentiments caused by bureaucratic interference.

State governments across India—including Tamil Nadu (46,296 temples), Karnataka (over 34,000 temples), Kerala (3,058 temples), Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and others—administer tens of thousands of temples along with their lands, funds, and donations.

This has led to widespread mismanagement, corruption, diversion of temple resources to non-religious uses, and loss of traditional community custodianship.

Pakistan’s blasphemy laws disproportionately target Hindu minorities.

Bangladesh’s Vested Property Act legalizes confiscation of Hindu land.

Conversion factories allegedly operated by Christian missionary and jihadi networks exist in Kerala, Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

Delhi Riots (2020), West Bengal Violence (2021, ongoing)

Continued communal violence causing loss of life and property.

Bangladesh 2023 Violence: ISIS
