Improvement in History Books
Reclaiming India’s True Past and The Battle for India’s Historical Narrative
India’s history textbooks have long suffered from distortions that undermine our civilizational pride and truth. For decades, Marxist historians and colonial-era influences have shaped textbooks that:
- Glorify invaders while erasing the courage and resistance of Hindu heroes.
- Whitewash Islamic atrocities committed during the Mughal period and beyond.
- Suppress India’s monumental contributions to science, mathematics, and philosophy spanning over 5,000 years.
At Hindu Rights Watch, we demand a history education that is accurate, unbiased, and inspiring—one that truly reflects India’s glorious Hindu heritage and instills pride in our youth.
The Problem: How History Books Mislead
- Glorifying Invaders, Erasing Heroes
- Mughals are portrayed as tolerant rulers while extensive temple destruction goes unmentioned.
- Great Hindu warriors like Maharana Pratap, Shivaji, and Guru Gobind Singh are largely omitted.
- Marxist Distortions
- A politically motivated “Eminent Historians” cartel controlled textbook content for decades, sidelining indigenous perspectives.
- The Harappan civilization’s links to Vedic culture are denied, and ancient India is dismissed as mythology.
- Colonial-Era Myths Still Taught
- Outdated Aryan Invasion Theory remains despite genetic and archaeological evidence disproving it.
- The colonial “civilizing mission” narrative persists, minimizing India’s indigenous achievements.
- Censorship of Hindu Resistance
- Phenomena like Islamic iconoclasm (over a thousand temples destroyed), the Goan Inquisition (with thousands of Hindu victims), and the Sikh Holocaust under Aurangzeb receive little or no attention.

Our 5-Point Reform Agenda
- Remove False Narratives
- Delete unwarranted glorification of figures like Babur and Aurangzeb.
- Reject and remove Aryan Invasion Theory from all curricula.
- Include Suppressed History
- Add chapters on Vedic scientific accomplishments: zero, ancient surgery, astronomy.
- Highlight Hindu resistance movements from medieval to British colonial periods.
- Present authentic Mughal records, including temple destruction, killing of Hindus, rape of hindus and jizya taxation.
- Professionalize Textbook Writing
- Constitute panels of impartial historians without Marxist gatekeeping.
- Base content on primary sources and archaeological evidence rather than ideological bias.
- Create a Digital Archive of Real History
- Develop verified online resources for teachers and students.
- Document archaeological discoveries and genetic studies proving India’s civilizational continuity.
- Promote State-Level Reforms
- Collaborate with pro-Hindu state governments to implement textbook reforms.
- Develop alternative textbook models aligned with Indian heritage and facts.
Why This Matters
- 78% of students find history boring, reflecting disengagement caused by biased content (NCERT survey).
- 65% of youth cannot name five Hindu kings but are familiar with Mughal genealogies.
- Three generations have been taught to feel ashamed or indifferent to their Hindu past.
Our mission is to reverse this trend and foster pride in India’s true heritage.
